The fun catching up week

I am still catching up so it's not as fun to play with all the features, although I saw someone suggesting the library trading card which seems like a really good idea. being an art lover, the Andy Warholizer triggered my fancy at first and I used one of the pictures I had posted earlier form my Flickr experience. It turned out really nice.

The Southpark generator had lots of options but the image which is the end result is only part of what I had a chance to look at. there are lots of options there to create fun characters.

Wikis

Like delicious, I was already familiar with wikis and think they are a wonderful communicating tool for the library staff. There so much knowledge among librarians that could be utilized with a wiki. After listening to the interview with Sarah, I am on a quest to set up mu own wiki. Her Book talk wiki sounds awesome.
The other wikis were interesting but it will not replace wikipedia. That is a great tool for all my homework questions. It is a starting point to inquire about different topics and find links to other websites. On to the next lesson since I am still behind!!!

My own book collection

This is an invention to my advantage. A great way to keep track of my books. the one I read for myself and the ones I read for school. It was really easy and hopefully I'll remember my account.

Ning

The way I get caught up in learning about the 27 things is that i will start with one thing but will end up in a totally different area on the net. This is maybe the reason why I am not quit caught up and on lesson 13 instead of 17.
Here is my newest discovery.
http://lisstudents.ning.com/
I did follow the instructions on #13's lesson and tried "library 2.0" in different searches, one of these lead me to a website that was calling for Library students. This got my attention of course being a library student myself and it is always fun to look at other students experiences especially since I am not in a classroom environment but am a student of the future; on line.
Ning is a place where you can build your own MySpace, your own community on the web. I found the one for LIS students. It is really interesting and helpful to see comments from other Library students.
I definitely found different blogs come up when I looked for the same word in the three different options; tags, blogspots and blog directory.
Is it a coincident that I am working lesson #13 on Friday the 13th???????

Delicious, and I am going to spell it out as it is said, was not new to me. I already had an account which is very helpful for those times that I am not on my own computer and need to find something on a website that I think is important. This would be a great tool for librarians and make those desktops look so much cleaner for those who do not put websites in the favorites section. It is also a great tool when a certain website is used often as a research tool. Not only can the website be found easy in the same account but also can it be categorized or looked at other sites related to this one website.

My Space (finally)

I am a little behind on the classes and try to catch up but do not get the full benefit from the sign up.
This is my myspace account

but hopefully I will have some time to adjust it and make it all look pretty.
It definitely shows that I don't trust using my full name or any other information about myself.
